We Are A Church,
Where People Become Family
FBCWest is a place where church means family. As a family that follows the Lord, we are commanded to love one another as we love ourselves. We hope that this site and our church can be an effective place for your family, and life, so that we can show the affect God has had on us to the world.

Weekly Bible Passage
Luke 15:21 - 32
21"And the son said to him, `Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight; I am no longer worthy to be called your son.'
22"But the father said to his slaves, `Quickly bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet;
23and bring the fattened calf, kill it, and let us eat and celebrate;
24for this son of mine was dead and has come to life again; he was lost and has been found.' And they began to celebrate.
Here at FBCWest we believe that Jesus, the Son of God, has saved by His sacrifice and our salvation is God’s gift not because of our value, but because of His grace. This faith that we have should cause us not to seek safety, but we should be “reckless” in our faith. To take risks as a result of faith. Risks in witnessing to others; regardless of whether or not they think we are simple minded; risks in loving others, though they may not love us in return; and risk the giving of our lives for Him and His purposes. Because as Paul stated in 2 Timothy “for I know whom I have believed and am convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him until that day.”

Miraculous Healings by Jesus
After having sowed His power and authority over nature by Simon’s great catch of fish, Jesus now shows not only His authority over the Scriptures as He teaches and preaches, He shows His power and authority over other matters. He casts out a demon from a man in the synagogue. Jesus has both the power and authority to do so and the people attending the synagogue that day are amazed by it and recognize that Jesus does have such power and authority. After the service Jesus goes to Simon’s house,...
The Call of the First Disciples
Jesus after preaching to the people in Simon Peter’s boat. Tells Simon to go out a little and cast his net. Simon and his partners had worked all night without catching anything. Simon informs Jesus of this, but tells Jesus he will do so anyway. I do not think Simon did so in faith, but out of respect for Jesus. As a result of him doing as Jesus said, they caught more fish than two boats could hold. Simon could have responded by saying that if Jesus continued to tell him where to catch fi...
Beginning of Galilean Ministry
Jesus leaves Judea due to the arrest of John the Baptist. He begins His Galilean Ministry by relocating to Capernaum and traveling through Galilee preaching, teaching and doing signs and wonders. Early in that ministry He returns to His home town of Nazareth. There, as is His custom, attends synagogue on the Sabbath. He reads the prophet, Isaiah Chapter 61 and declares that they are witnesses to the realization of that prophesy. Initially, they are impressed at His words. However, He know...
